Box 15 members were treated to a delicious meal of chicken & noodles, mashed potatoes, corn, salad, and homemade biscuits by the on duty shift. Following the meal, Box 15 presented a plaque to Station 1 in honor of Captain Gregory Lash, who is about to retire after 39 years of firefighting. Captain Lash was also made an honorary member of Box 15. He has been a great friend and supporter of our group throughout his career.
Welcome Back Lieutenant Torres

Monday, February 25 was the first day back on the job for Mifflin Township's Lieutenant Anthony Torres. He is the first amputee in the state of Ohio to return to return to active duty. Several Box 15 members were present in a crowd of more than 300 people - dignitaries, friends, family members, coworkers, and fellow firefighters from many Central Ohio fire departments as they all gathered to welcome him back. Best of luck Lieutenant - see you on the big one!
Box 15 & the Columbus Fire Auxiliary Team up for a Good Cause

On Saturday, February 25, members of Box 15 joined forces with several members of the Columbus Fire Auxiliary to support the Cystic Fibrosis annual Battle of the Badges. This annual stair climb event involves more than 350 Police and Fire competitors as well as corporate teams and individual climbers. Box 15 and the Auxiliary staffed hydration stations and monitored the stairwells for climbers in distress. During the event, we dispensed over 500 bottles of water and 40 pounds of bananas. The water was donated by Thompson Building Associates and the bananas were donated by Giant Eagle.
Box 15 Responds to Busey Road with Violet Township

On Sunday, February 17, the Metropolitan Emergency Communications Center dispatched Box 15 to Busey Road in Violet Township to provide cold weather rehab for an extra company fire in a residential structure. Box 15 set up a rehab sector in the driveway of the fire building. Service included 40 coffees, 16 hot chocolates, 24 granola bars, and two cases of water.
Box 15 was on scene for 2 1/2 hours.

STAIR CLIMB

On Saturday, February 2, the Central Ohio chapter of the American Lung Association held their second annual "Fight for Air" Stair Climb at the State Office Tower in downtown Columbus. Nearly 250 climbers signed up for the event. Box 15 was there to monitor climbers and to assist EMS personnel.
