Box 15 Member Pete Fowler Passes

Long time Box 15 member, Peter Robert Fowler passed away on Wednesday, June 9, 2010. Pete joined Box 15 in 1968 and was honored as the “Fire Buff of the Year” in 1999. He was a volunteer firefighter with Whitehall, achieving the rank of Captain. Pete was also an avid fire buff and was one of a select group that regularly traveled to Chicago to “ride out”. Until his health dictated otherwise, Pete was a fixture at every greater alarm fire in Central Ohio. Pete was instrumental in putting our first few canteen units in service. Box 15 Participates in Norwich Township's Spirit of Safety Day

On May 15th, Box 15 joined Norwich Township and the Hilliard Police Department for their first annual Spirit of Safety Day.  This day-long event showcased the capabilities of NTFD and HPD with water rescue, rope repelling, auto extrication, and K-9 demonstrations, as well as a MedFlight Helicopter landing.  The Central Ohio Strike Team also had a vehicle on display.  Other participants included Franklin County Homeland Security, the Red Cross, Mount Carmel, and a host of other agencies.  The entire day was free, right down to drinks, pop-corn, and hot dogs!  We look forward to participating again next year!

Winner of the Box 15 Charity Football

Box 15 and Thompson Building have announced the raffle winner of the autographed football. Melissa Hodgden. Thompson Building will contact Ms. Hodgden this week.  The final amount raised to help support Box15 and the job we do was $651.  Box 15 would like to thank all those who purchased tickets.  Your support will go to helping fund Box 15 and to help Central Ohio firefighters.   Box 15 would like to thank Thompson Building for its generous support for Box 15.

Box 15 receives a large donation of bottled water

When a truckload of bottled water was refused by the intended recipient, the supplier advised the carrier to donate the shipment. The carrier, US Express contacted the Columbus Division of Fire, who referred them to Box 15. Arrangements were made to offload the semi trailer (1586 cases, or 38000+ bottles of water) at Thompson Building Associates. Thompson has partnered with Box 15 to provide bottled water for rehab purposes, since 2003. As Box 15 would not be able to use that quantity directly, we are sharing the wealth. All water, beyond our direct needs, is being distributed to Central Ohio public safety forces, including Fire Departments, SWAT teams, Haz-Mat & Bomb response units.
