Abandoned Structure burns in Canal Winchester

Fire crews were dispatched to downtown Canal Winchester just as “Christmas in the Village” was ending.  Three buildings of a long-closed lumber yard, just east of the historic downtown district, were quickly fully involved.  Madison Township & Columbus companies, along with units from Violet, Bloom and Hamilton Township departments, fought the 2-alarm blaze for more than an hour before declaring it under control.  They were successful in preventing the fire from spreading to a business, literally 2 feet away from the all wood structure.  Rehab 1 responded with a crew of 2, meeting 3 additional members who were already on-scene.  We dispensed coffee & hot chocolate, along with granola bars.
